A Typical Sunday

Arriving
Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions. When you arrive, an usher will offer you a Sunday bulletin, which has the order that we will follow for worship that day. We try to choose language and music for worship that welcomes everyone. Find a seat and make yourself comfortable. You will also find a “Newcomer” card for you to fill out and place in the offering plate if you would like us to be in touch with you.

Children’s Time
Early in the service children are invited to come forward for a time that is set aside for them. Sometimes there is a story.

Communion
We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of the month.  Everyone, members, non-members and visitors, is invited to participate.  Our method of receiving Communion by intinction, an ancient practice of coming forward, taking the bread and dipping it in the cup and receiving both elements together. For the cup, we use unfermented grape juice.
We practice an Open Table at First Congregational Church: All who wish to follow Jesus are welcome to receive Communion here.

Special Events
Sometimes there are special events, such as baptisms, welcoming new members and presentations. These will be printed in your bulletin and you can follow along with the rest of the congregation.

After the Service
We would love to meet you following worship. The pastor greets folks at the door following the service. Everyone is invited for coffee hour downstairs after worship. Be sure to sign the Guest Book near the door or fill out a “newcomer card” located in each pew and place it in the offering plate, hand it to an usher or the pastor.
